Public house. 1897-98. Polished granite cladding to ground floor, red brick with ashlar detailing above; slate roof, parapet, 2 moulded stacks. In Jacobethan style. 3 storeys plus attics, corner site with 10 first-floor windows: plate-glass sashes, some paired. Hunslet Road entrance has glazed double doors, paired attached columns supporting segmental pediment, 3-light window and 'ADELPHI' in projecting bay above carried up to ornate dormer window. Dock Street facade has similar details but narrow doorway to left of pedimented window. INTERIOR: the ground-floor plan is of a foyer with 4 rooms opening off and an ornate staircase rising to 1st-floor meeting rooms; the large public bar to left of entrance has inserted partition of c1980. Original features include: tiled floors, mahogany and etched glass doors, original bar back, original tiling, overmantels and furnishings.
