Description

This is a late 18th and early 19th century house, now divided into two separate dwellings. The front of the building is constructed from ashlar stone, with hammer-dressed stone at the rear, and has a 20th-century tile roof. Originally symmetrical with five bays, the facade was altered in the early to mid-19th century when a cottage was removed from the first two bays. It features a plinth and corner pilasters. The central doorway has an architrave with a frieze and cornice above it. Above the doorway is a window with an architrave and moulded sill. The other bays have windows with projecting plain stone surrounds. The first bay contains larger windows, while the second bay has a doorway with monolithic jambs. Coped gables are topped with brick stacks. The rear elevation has quoins. Most of the rear has been altered, but the first bay retains an original three-light mullioned window, with slightly recessed mullions on both floors. Inside number 60, there is a doorway with an eared architrave, and the original window shutters have been retained.
