Description
Nos 145 and 147 on Wakefield Road are a pair of cottages built in the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and feature a stone slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have three bays, each with three-light flat-faced mullioned windows that have slightly recessed mullions and an inner chamfer on each floor. The second bay has an altered ground-floor canted bay window. There are doorways with tie-stone jambs on either side of the second bay, with the right-hand doorway featuring a gabled wood and glass mid-20th century storm porch. The cottages also have brick stacks at the gables and one additional stack on the ridge. Inside, the cottages are plain but include chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
