Description
Lime Trees Farmhouse is a house and attached barn located on Main Street in Barwick in Elmet and Scholes. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of coursed rubble, with some parts rendered, and features a Welsh blue-slate roof. The building has an L-shaped layout and consists of a two-cell house with a central lobby-entry plan, standing two storeys tall.
The central doorway has a wooden surround, and to the left, there is a single bay of 20-pane sash windows with monolithic lintels, projecting sills, and flush-wood architraves. On the right end, there are small pane Yorkshire sash windows on each floor. The house has a gable stack on the left and a central ridge stack with three flues. Attached to the right is a short gabled wing that has a ridge stack and is connected to a barn, which has been partly converted for domestic use and is of lesser interest.
At the rear, there is a central doorway flanked by 16-pane sash windows on each floor, with the ground-floor windows featuring wedge-shaped lintels. To the right end, there is a low outshut with a lean-to roof, which likely covers a partly-sunk cellar.
Inside, the door entries at the front and back open against a wide stack, but there are no other notable features of interest.
