HAREWOOD SANDY GATE LS17 (south side, off) Harewood Park Temple in The Grove approx 300m north-west of Church of All Saints

Temple. Probably early C20. Ashlar, lead dome., Half-open rotunda. Circular plinth of 2 ashlar steps. 4 columns, the capitals decorated with long feathers, support moulded entablature. Columns in antis at meeting with semicircular rear wall which is rendered and pebble-dashed. Cornice carried on Ionic modillions. Domed roof.

Interior: plastered rear wall on wooden framework (visible at base) with laths. Dentil plaster cornice. Ribbed dome with central circle.

From the Temple radiate 3 paths cut through the woodland, from which can be seen Great Armscliffe Cragg, Harewood Bridge and Harewood Castle. A viewing house once much frequented by H.R.H. the Princess Royal.
