Description

Manor Farmhouse, now divided into two dwellings, dates from the late 16th century with additions from the 17th century and has been altered over time. The building features a timber frame with sandstone cladding that is now rendered, and it has a stone slate roof with brick chimneys. The structure is U-shaped, consisting of a linear four-bay main range with a continuous outshut at the rear and gabled wings added to the front.

It stands two storeys high and has altered casement windows beneath stone hoodmoulds. There is one window on each floor in the centre, an inserted door to the left, and an inserted window on each floor to the right. The wings also have similar but shorter hoodmoulds over three-light casements on each floor. These wings display exposed king-post trusses with three pairs of V-struts.

The left return of the left wing features a large external chimney stack that is flush with the front corner, while the right return of the right wing has a similar external chimney stack. Both stacks have two diagonal flues made of brick. Additionally, there are two similar chimneys with diagonal flues on the ridge to the left, another behind it to the right, and an axial ridge chimney at the junction of the right-hand wing.

The left-hand end wall has two windows at different levels, and the gable of the main range is set back, with the corner of the outshut splayed. The outshut has a catslide roof that extends down to single-storey height.

Inside, the building has been altered, but one post with curved braces to a wallplate is visible in the rear wall of the first bay, along with a wallplate in the hall part.
