Description

The Iredale Memorial, located approximately 10 metres south of the Church of St Mark, is a memorial dedicated to Joseph Iredale, who was a mason. It was constructed around 1847 and is made of ashlar stone. The memorial features a rectangular plinth that stands about 1.5 metres high, with inscriptions displayed on recessed moulded panels. At the top, there is a deep cornice that is surmounted by a square urn. The inscription on the north side reads: 'SACRED/ TO THE MEMORY OF/ JOSEPH IREDALE MASON/ DIED JANUARY 20TH 1847/ AGED 49 YEARS/ ALSO HANNAH/ WIFE OF THE ABOVE/ DIED JULY 22ND 1857/ AGED 57 YEARS'.
