Description
Nos. 1 and 3 Church Hill is a house and attached cottage dating from the mid 18th century, which was restored in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of rendered coursed rubble stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. It has a single gable and a single ridge stack, with quoins and a chamfered plinth.
The structure is two storeys high and has three windows on the front. The doorway on the right has a painted, plain ashlar surround and a six-panel door with glazed top panels. Flanking this doorway are two single two-light sliding sash windows with glazing bars, the right window set in a chamfered surround. Above are two similar windows. To the left is another doorway with a painted, plain ashlar surround and a six-panel door. Next to this doorway is a single two-light glazing bar casement, with a similar sliding sash window above.
The left return features an additional two-light sliding sash window with glazing bars and a similar window above. To the right, there is a small casement window, and above in the gable, an eight-pane fixed light in a slightly chamfered surround. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing that includes a three-light window under an ashlar lintel and a corrugated roof.
