Description

Moor Allerton School is a country house, later adapted for use as a primary school. It was built in the late 18th century and extended in the early 19th century. The exterior is stuccoed with slate hipped roofs. The main part of the house is three bays wide, with wider, projecting end bays each featuring a three-window bowed facade. A central porch has Tuscan columns supporting a heavy entablature; it was later altered with the addition of double doors and glazing. The sash windows have glazing bars within moulded architraves. The central section has a balustraded parapet flanked by blocking pieces. Large, plain stacks are situated between the centre and outer bays. On the right return, there are three windows, with a slightly projecting central bay featuring a round arch on the ground floor, now containing a sash window. A tall 15-pane sash window is to the right; remaining windows feature 12 panes. The interior has not been inspected.
