Description
This is a dovecote built in the late 18th century, located approximately 30 metres north of Dunford House in Rothwell, Methley. It is constructed from hand-made brown brick and features a stone slate roof. The dovecote has a square single-cell plan and stands three storeys tall. On the first floor, there is a small segmental-headed window, and another similar window is located on the second floor, with the lower window having altered glazing and the upper one featuring wooden doors. There is also an inserted doorway or window between these two windows, along with another small inserted window on the right side of the ground floor. The building has a saw-toothed eaves band and a pyramidal roof.
Inside, nest holes in the upper stage are visible through the window, although the interior has not been fully inspected. This dovecote is included for its group value.
