Description
Withywood Hall is a house dating from the 17th century that has been altered over time. It features rendered walls and a stone slate roof, and is built over two storeys and a cellar. The layout consists of two rooms with a central stack and an outshut at the rear. The building has quoins and a near-central entrance with a Tudor arch, surrounded by quoined detailing. The original windows are double-chamfered, although most of the mullions are missing. To the right of the door is a 4-light window, while to the left is a 2-light fire window and an altered 18th-century 4-light window, which also has missing mullions. The far left side has a former 2-light window that has been converted into a doorway. Above the main doorway, there is a ground-floor dripmound that acts as a hood. The first floor features two 2-light windows and three 3-light windows, with the 3-light windows having had their mullions removed. The gabled copings are supported by mounted kneelers on the left side. A large central rendered ridge stack with a cornice is present, and the single-storey outshut at the rear includes a 2-light double-chamfered cellar window, two chamfered single lights, and some later windows on the ground floor. The left gable has an entrance with a cambered head and a chamfered surround, along with a small blind light above it that has an arched head. The right gable features a former 2-light double-chamfered cellar window, a tiny chamfered light on the first floor, and a similar light at the gable apex, along with several later windows. Inside, there is one 17th-century fireplace and one 18th-century fireplace, with spine beams that are reed-moulded down the center. A central king-post truss with a deep tie-beam is also present, and some early timberwork can be seen between the house and the outshut.
