Description
This is a row of five tenter posts located approximately 60 metres east-north-east of the Ship Inn. Likely dating from the 19th century, these monolithic posts are rectangular in shape and each features a socket for an iron hook. One of the posts has lost its hook, and all but one have broken tops. These posts were used in the cloth-manufacturing process, where lengths of cloth would be stretched out to dry between them and other posts that have since been removed. It is uncommon to find surviving tenter posts, although many tenter fields are known to have existed.
