Description
Lockwood Railway Viaduct was built in 1848 by engineer John Hawkshaw, with contractors Miller, Blackie, and Shortridge. The viaduct features rock-faced stone and consists of 38 round arches along with one segmental-headed arch that spans Woodhead Road. It has a decorative band and a parapet, reaching a height of 136 feet. The railway line it supports was opened on 1 July 1850.
