Description

The Grange is a mid-19th century building constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with ashlar dressings and a steep-pitched slate roof featuring coped gables on kneelers. The building is two storeys and has attics. The front elevation is characterised by a forward-projecting gable at the south end, which incorporates a canted bay with a hipped slate roof on the ground floor. The first floor of this gable features a four-light stone mullioned window, with chamfered mullions and each light having an ogee head. A gabled porch is centrally positioned with a door featuring a two-centred head. The first floor of the adjacent bay to the north is slightly corbelled out to create an attic dormer, with a two-centred arched window on the first floor, complete with a hoodmould and two lights containing tracery. Above this is a two-light window with ogival lights in the attic. The north front has two canted bays with hipped stone roofs on the ground floor. The north bay also has a canted oriel with a steep hipped stone roof on the first floor, and two small lights are set in the gable end. The south front has one canted bay.
