Description
The Former Lock-up, dated 1823, is a small two-storey stone building with a stone roof located on the north side of Keighley Road in Illingworth. It features a central round-arched rusticated doorway with a lunette above and a date tablet inscribed with the phrase, "Let him that stole steal no more but rather let him labour with his hands the thing which is good that he may have to give to him that needeth." There is a small window on each side of the doorway, and broad strip pilasters flank the entrance, which are pierced by rusticated circular windows. The building has a cornice and blocking below the eaves, along with a modern ventilator on the roof. A cottage adjoins the east side of the lock-up.
