Description
Lane Head Farm is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, with additions made in the mid-18th century and later alterations in the 20th century. The construction is of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and the roofs are covered in stone slates, featuring a single raised coped gable with kneelers. There are two stone gabled stacks. The south front has a projecting two-storey porch with a shallow gable, coped with kneelers. The doorway features a flush ashlar surround and a 20th-century door. Above the porch is a small Venetian window with a flush ashlar surround and a raised keystone; the central light retains remnants of Gothick glazing bars. Flanking this are single four-light mullion windows on both floors. The north, or rear, front has a centrally positioned doorway with a flush ashlar surround and a flat hood porch supported on square ashlar pillars. To the left of the doorway is a four-light chamfered mullion window, and to the right is a continuous window composed of a three-light chamfered mullion section, two similar lights, and a further four-light deeply chamfered mullion window. Above are two six-light chamfered mullion windows, those to the left being deeply chamfered. A late 20th-century addition is located to the east.
