Description

General Wood, originally known as Jean Royd, is a house built in 1704 that was refronted in the mid-19th century. It now consists of two dwellings. The south front features two storeys and three cells. The first cell has a doorway with tie-stones and a re-used lintel that displays the date and initials 'I E R' set within a decorative tressure. Each cell has wide, flat-faced mullioned windows with three lights on both floors, although some of the mullions have been removed. The rear wing has quoins and retains some windows with double chamfered surrounds, although these have been altered to include modern glazing; originally, these were four-light windows. The stacks have been removed.
