Description
Arcade Chambers is a commercial building located on North Street in Keighley, dating from 1898. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a thin slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall with an attic and has seven bays arranged in a pattern of 1:1:3:1.
The ground floor includes a central round-arched doorway adorned with decorative spandrels and a frieze, flanked by shop windows on either side, each supported by two marble veneer columns. Above, the windows are mullioned and transomed, each with a decorative panel over the lights. The second floor features a prominent central three-light oriel window. The bays are separated by giant Corinthian pilasters that support an entablature with a decorative frieze and a moulded cornice.
The shaped gable over the three central bays contains three windows and is topped with coping and finials, while a balustrade runs over the other bays. The building also has corniced stacks. It is included in the listing for its group value.
