Description
The building is a mosque that was originally constructed as a Methodist church in 1846 by James Simpson. It is made of coursed, squared stone and features a Westmorland slate roof. The structure has two storeys and consists of four bays. The gable front is symmetrical and includes rusticated quoins and two Tuscan porches, positioned in antis, each leading up to steps and adorned with a frieze and cornice. Between the porches, there are two round-headed windows with sashes that have glazing bars. Above, there are four round-headed windows, with the end ones set in double-pilastered slight projections. The cornice breaks forward over the end bays. On the right side, there are six bays featuring a door to the left and round-headed windows on both floors.
