Description

This guidestone, located at the junction with Barr House Lane and opposite Cairn Croft in High Utley, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is inscribed with the word 'Skipton' accompanied by a hand pointing in one direction, and underneath, 'Keighley' with a hand pointing in the opposite direction. This guidestone marks the old highway that was adopted by the Keighley Kendal turnpike trust in 1733, and Old Barr House Lane was opened in 1782.
