Description
The terrace wall to the south and east of Banner Cross Hall was built between 1817 and 1821 and designed by Sir Jeffry Wyatville for General Murray. It is made of squared dressed stone and features chamfered ashlar coping and pier caps, with a battered outer face. The south side includes steps on the left and a square projecting bay on the right. The curved east side has a pair of gate piers on the right. The wall is approximately 200 meters long. According to Derek Linstrum, the house benefits significantly from the high retaining wall that separates the upper and lower garden levels.
