Description

No. 14 Ecclesall Road South is a late 18th-century and circa 1800 house. The building is constructed of coursed rubble, rendered and painted, with Welsh slate and stone slate roofs, and has a double-range plan. The front range, dating to circa 1800, has three windows on the front elevation. The central window is a Gothick traceried lattice window of two lights, flanked by similar three-light windows, all with flat hoods. Below, there is a crenellated ashlar porch with a four-centred arched studded door, flanked by single Gothick traceried lattice windows with hoods. A small canted bay window with Gothick traceried lattice windows is present on the west front. The earlier rear range features a partly blocked tall narrow stair window and two three-light glazing bar casements. At ground level, to the left is a pair of glazed doors, and to the right, a lean-to with a six-panel door. The interior was not inspected.
