Description
The scissor forge located in the courtyard at Number 23 is a mid-19th century brick building with a hipped slate roof featuring two large brick ridge stacks and two skylights. It has a moulded wooden gutter supported by wooden brackets. The structure is single storey and has four sets of four windows. The windows are designed with chamfered blue brick sills. On the entrance side, which faces west, there are three wooden glazing bar casements with three lights each, along with a board door to the right. The right side of the building has four metal glazing bar casements, also with three lights each. The rear features three similar casements, a two-light casement to the right, and a rounded corner. Inside, there are two small forge hearths. This building exemplifies the specialized small-scale workshop typical of Sheffield's industrial heritage.
