Description
The boundary wall and corner towers of the former Hillsborough Barracks were built between 1848 and 1854, with some alterations made in the mid and late 20th century. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs. The wall is slightly battered and has a half-round coping. It consists of six straight sections, totaling approximately 400 meters in length. There are five octagonal crenellated corner towers, each two storeys high, which include rifle slits on both floors and contain stone spiral stairs. Attached to the inner face of the north-west side are single-storey gabled workshops and service buildings.
