SK 38 NW SHEFFIELD LANGSETT ROAD (North East side) 784-1/5/464 Boundary wall and comer 12.12.1995 towers NW section to former Hillsborough Barracks

GV II

Boundary wall and corner towers to former barracks, with adjoining service buildings. 1848-54, with mid and late C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. Slightly battered wall with half-round coping. 6 straight sections of wall, total length approx 400m. 5 octagonal crenellated corner towers, 2 storeys, with rifle slits on each floor. Towers contain stone spiral stairs. Adjoining the inner face of the north-west side, single storey gabled workshops and service buildings.
