Description

Holly House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with a 20th-century addition. The house has cement-rendered walls and a scalloped Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high, with three bays. Features a plinth. The central bay has a panelled door with a plain overlight, set within a wooden doorcase featuring Doric pilasters, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice. The other bays on each floor contain 16-pane sash windows with projecting stone sills. The overhanging eaves have a Vitruvian-scrolled fascia board with pendent finials at the ends and centre. At the rear, a 4-panel door is set beneath a bracketed canopy on the right, and a round-headed sash window provides light to the staircase. The right return side has an old, partly glazed, panelled door on the left, set within a flush wooden architrave alongside a sash window with glazing bars. Inside, the contemporary wooden staircase has turned newels and square baluster rods leading to a ramped handrail. The 20th-century additions are not of particular architectural interest.
