Description
Settings Farmhouse is a Grade II listed farmhouse located on Queen Street in Thorne, dating back to 1728 with 19th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of red brick in random bond and features a 20th-century tiled roof. It is a two-storey-and-attic, three-cell house with a two-storey, single-bay addition on the left and a similar-sized outshut to the rear right.
The main house has a bull-nosed plinth course and a 19th-century corniced doorcase positioned to the right of the center, which contains a four-panelled door with an overlight. The windows are four-pane sashes with projecting sills and flat arches, and there is an additional door with an overlight inserted at the far left. On the first floor, there is a chamfered brick band beneath three windows that match those on the ground floor. The eaves feature a moulded, dentilled course, and there is a later brick stack to the left of center.
The 19th-century addition on the left has a 16-pane sash window on each floor, also with a projecting sill and a cambered brick arch, and an end stack on the left. The right return of the building displays a datestone in a partly-rebuilt gable, which bears the initials and date M 'T M / 1728. The 19th-century outshut on the right has windows similar to those in the added end bay. Inside, the farmhouse features back-to-back inglenook fireplaces in the left and central rooms of the main house.
