Description

Nos 1-4 Foundry Yard are a row of foundry workers' cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from deeply-coursed, dressed sandstone and feature a Welsh slate roof. The cottages are three storeys high and consist of four bays. The paired doorways located between the outer bays have ashlar surrounds with monolithic jambs and a deep lintel. The flanking windows, some of which were boarded at the time of the survey, have projecting stone sills and wedge lintels. The first-floor windows match the others, while the second-floor windows are shorter; all have 20th-century casements. The cottages also have renewed brick end stacks and a matching central ridge stack.
