Description

This is an early 19th-century shop with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of pink mottled brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof featuring a double span and a brick stack at the right end. The building has a three-story, two-window front. The shopfront features plain pilasters and a deep entablature with a corniced moulding supported by bulbous consoles. A recessed glazed shop door is flanked by half-canted plate glass windows with small-pane transom lights, and a six-panel door is located at the left end. The first floor has four-pane sash windows set within a five-bay flat-arched arcade of plain dwarf pilasters. A bold cornice runs along the arcade. The second floor windows are also four-pane sashes, with painted stone sills and keyed, grooved wedge lintels. Inside, there is an open string staircase with shaped treadends, stick balusters, a plain handrail with turned newel posts. A moulded cornice is present in the rear room on the first floor.
