Description
91 and 93 Micklegate is a house dating from the early 18th century, likely subdivided and extended in the early 19th century, with later modernizations and a 20th-century shopfront. It is constructed of painted brick and features a cogged brick eaves course, along with a partly rebuilt brick stack at the right end of a pantile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and presents a two-storey, two-window front. The shopfront is framed by plain pilasters with moulded imposts and bases, topped by a continuous entablature with a moulded cornice. It includes paired half-glazed and panelled doors, flanked by small-pane shop windows—two lights to the left and three lights to the right. On the first floor, the windows are 16-pane sashes with painted sills and cambered arches. Inside, the ground floor room to the left retains an early 19th-century hob grate in its original fireplace.
