Description

This is a fragment of a wall located approximately 2 metres north of Number 9 on St Leonard's Place in York. It dates back to around 300 AD and is part of the outer defences of the Roman legionary fortress of Eboracum. The wall is approximately 7 metres long and constructed from coursed rubble stone, faced on one side with small limestone blocks. It stands between 0.75 and 1.50 metres high.
