Description
No. 3 High Petergate is a house that has been converted into an estate agency and clinic. It dates from the early 18th century but has earlier origins and underwent alterations in the 20th century. The front is made of painted brick in Flemish bond, featuring timber guttering supported by paired block modillions, while the rear is constructed of orange-brown brick in stretcher bond, topped with a pantile roof.
The exterior has a three-storey, five-bay front. There are 20th-century double doors framed by simple pilasters, with two 12-pane sash windows to the left and one 16-pane sash window to the right, all beneath a plain cornice. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows to the left and one 16-pane sash window to the right. The second floor features four uneven 9-pane sash windows and one blocked opening in the center. The building has raised brick bands with four courses at the first and second floors, and a firemark is located at the right end of the first floor. The rear of the building has two storeys and attics with twin-gabled bays, and the fenestration has been altered, although one 16-pane sash window retains a segmental brick arch. Raised brick bands are also present at the first and attic floors.
Inside, the front room on the first floor is lined with 17th-century panelling and includes a marble fireplace with a hob grate.
