Description
39 Tanner Row is a public house that has been converted into a restaurant, built between 1845 and 1850. The building features painted brick in English garden-wall bond, with a timber ground floor screen set on a painted stone plinth. It has a timber eaves band beneath a slate roof and a brick stack at the left end.
The exterior is four stories high with a two-window front. The ground floor screen includes flat mullions and a heavy moulded cornice supported by shaped brackets. To the right, there is a four-panel door with a blocked overlight, next to three plate glass windows above panelled risers, all featuring cambered heads. The first and second floors have 12-pane sash windows with painted stone sills, while the third floor has squat 6-pane sash windows above a raised sill band. A rainwater head and round fallpipe are located at the left end, secured with fleur-de-lys clamps. The interior has not been inspected.
