Description
Pear Tree Farmhouse is a house dated through dendrochronology to between 1644 and 1649. It is constructed of brick in random bond with a pantile roof, featuring stone slates on the rear. The layout is a 4-cell baffle-entry house, with the fourth cell likely having originally served as a cow byre or barn. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut that faces the road.
The garden front has two storeys and features five first-floor windows. There is a half-glazed door, with a 2-light casement and a 2-light Yorkshire sash window to the left. To the right, there is a 2-light Yorkshire sash, along with blocked rectangular vents and an inserted 20th-century casement. A three-course band with a moulded lower course runs along the front. On the first floor, there are 2-light Yorkshire sashes, except for the fourth opening which has a casement. The eaves are stepped, and the gable ends are raised, with end and ridge stacks present.
Inside, the staircase is located directly opposite the front door, likely in its original position. Several original four-panel doors with H-L hinges can be found throughout the interior.
