Description
No. 57 Goodramgate is a pair of houses that have been converted into a shop and offices. They were built in the late 18th century and have undergone alterations and extensions in the 19th and 20th centuries, including a shopfront added in the 20th century. The front of the building is rendered, while the rear is made of red-brown brick in English garden-wall bond. It features a timber cornice and shopfront, with a corrugated pantile roof.
The exterior is three stories high with a two-window front. The shopfront includes arcaded lights on either side of glazed and panelled double doors, which are framed by a pilastered surround with a deep fascia and cornice. The first-floor windows are corbelled-out three-light canted bays, fitted with one-pane sashes and moulded cornices. The second floor has one-pane sash windows set in plain raised surrounds. The building is topped with a moulded modillioned and dentilled cornice. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value as an integral part of Goodramgate.
