Description
No 9, Market Place is an early 19th-century building. It stands three storeys high, constructed of yellow brick, and features a small stone-coped parapet and a hipped slate roof. The façade includes four windows that break forward in pairs, which are hung sashes with glazing bars, although some have been replaced with modern versions. The ground floor has been restored and includes three windows along with a stone doorway that has a rectangular fanlight above it. A stone plinth is present at the base, and the rear of the building is partly rendered. There is a moulded stone band between the ground and first floors. Nos 7 to 12, including No 9, form a group, and No 8 also groups with No 7 and the premises occupied by Ancholme Lodge of Freemasons on Cary Lane.
