Description
The garden wall, located approximately 300 metres south-west of Elsham Hall, is a kitchen garden wall built in the mid-19th century for T G Corbett. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring ashlar and pantile coping, as well as ashlar dressings at the main entrances. The wall is roughly rectangular in shape and stands about 3.5 metres high.
On the south-east side, which faces the lake, there is an entrance framed by an ashlar surround with attached columns that have square vermiculated bands. These columns support Roman Ionic capitals, which in turn support an entablature featuring a rusticated keystone and a vermiculated pulvinated frieze, along with a modillioned cornice and a pediment. The entrance includes a wrought-iron gate with plain bars, a geometric panel, and scrolls. The inner face of this entrance has a rusticated ashlar surround.
The north-east side features an ashlar basket-arched entrance with keyed chamfered rustication, leading to a pair of board doors fitted with strap-hinges. On the south-west side, there is another entrance with a panelled door set beneath a segmental brick arch.
