Description

The Mount is a farmhouse located on Barnetby Lane, dating from the mid-18th century with mid-19th century additions and alterations. The left gable end was rebuilt in the 20th century. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick and has a concrete tile roof. It has an L-shaped plan, featuring a central entrance hall front with two rooms, which was formerly three rooms. A mid-19th century entrance porch is flanked by bay windows, and there is a kitchen wing from the 18th century at the rear right, along with a 19th-century infill in the angle.

The building is two storeys tall and has three symmetrical bays. The projecting brick porch has a panelled door beneath a fanlight with geometric glazing bars, set in a ribbed doorcase with a hood. The gable is stone-coped with shaped kneelers. The ground floor features projecting canted brick bays with tripartite plate glass sashes that have wooden mullions, all beneath a plain frieze. On the first floor, there is a central 16-pane sash window in a flush wooden architrave with a projecting sill and a stucco keyed cambered arch, flanked by tripartite sashes with glazing bars in similar surrounds. The eaves cornice is stepped and finely dentilled. The right gable has a stone coping with shaped kneelers, and there are stacks at both ends, with one to the right and an axial stack to the left. The right return of the front range includes a 19th-century ground-floor sash window, a first-floor 12-pane sliding sash, and an attic sash with leaded lights. At the first-floor sill level on the right, there is brickwork incised with "I C 1767".
