Description

ELSHAM B 1206 TA 01 SW (east side, off) 5/14 Orangery approximately 50 metres east of Elsham 6/11/67 Hall GV II Orangery. Rainwater head inscribed WT, probably for Thompson family; C20 1761 roof. Limestone ashlar front, red brick to sides and rear. Asbestos roof. Classical style. Rectangular on plan, with flight of 5 stone steps to central entrance. Single storey, 3 bays: central pedimented bay breaks forward. Plinth, rusticated quoins. Bays divided by attached Doric columns carrying full entablature with modillioned cornice and blocking course. 3 full-height round-headed arches in rusticated surrounds containing windows with wooden mullions, glazing bars and glazed door to middle bay. Inscribed rainwater head to right. Tripartite sashes with glazing bars to left and right returns. Single pitch roof.
