Description

Cleatham House Farmhouse is a late 18th-century building that has been converted into two houses. It features early to mid-19th-century bow windows and has undergone some interior alterations. The left side of the building was altered around 1970. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and stacks, and the front is rendered with incised masonry lines. The bow windows have lead roofs, while the rest of the building is covered with slate.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with five bays, including a three-bay symmetrical frontage on the right. The original entrance is located in the fourth bay and features a Doric doorcase with attached pilasters that support an open dentilled pediment and hood. This entrance has a part-glazed panelled door and a radial fanlight in a panelled reveal. In the second bay, there is a 20th-century glazed door within a 20th-century surround that includes fluted pilasters and a pediment.

Flanking the main door are full-height bow windows that contain tripartite sashes with glazing bars, set in flush wood architraves above stone cills. To the left end, there is a 20th-century casement window. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window above the door, surrounded by beaded pilasters that support an open pediment on brackets, along with two casements in original openings at the left end. The bow windows have flat roofs, and the building features axial and end stacks.

Inside, the main front rooms have fielded panel doors set in beaded architraves and moulded wooden ceiling cornices. The staircase at the rear has turned balusters with square knops.
