Description
Spring Cottage is a house with origins in the 17th century, which was raised and remodeled in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and stacks, topped with a pantile roof. The layout features three rooms, with a baffle-entry on the left side. The house has two low storeys and three windows on the first floor.
The pointed entrance is located to the left of the center and has a brick dripmould with moulded stops, leading to a recessed 20th-century board door. There is one window to the left and two to the right, all featuring wooden Y-tracery and horizontal glazing bars within similar pointed surrounds. The roof is hipped with deep eaves, and there is a massive axial stack that has a cogged brick band and a tall 20th-century top section.
Inside, the cottage retains original beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplaces. It is included in the heritage listing for its group value.
