Description

This is a threshing barn built in 1787 for the Yarborough Estate, located approximately 30 metres north-west of Brandicarr Farmhouse. The barn is constructed from yellow brick and has a pantile roof. It is rectangular in shape and forms the north side of a crew-yard. The structure has two storeys and consists of nine bays.

On the south side, there is a two-fold board door with wrought-iron strap hinges set beneath a segmental arch in the sixth bay. This door is flanked by five slit vents on the left and a single slit vent with a small 20th-century casement window on the right. At first-floor level, there are four circular iron tie-bar ends. The first floor features five slit vents on the left and three on the right, along with a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice.

The left return of the barn has four slit vents on both the ground and first floors, and an attic pitching hatch beneath a segmental arch, with single slit vents on each side and three above. The right return is partially obscured by an adjoining stable range and has five slit vents in the gable.

On the north side, there is a sliding board door to the left of centre, which has a wooden hood on shaped brackets over runners. There are three slit vents to the left of the door, and four slit vents along with a small wooden hatch beneath a timber lintel to the right. The first floor features a board door to the right of centre with an ashlar sill and segmental arch, a pitching hatch to the left beneath a segmental arch, and eight slit vents. The adjoining stable range to the east is not of special interest.
