Description

The Irby Upon Humber War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was unveiled in September 1919. It is made of red polished granite and concrete. The memorial features a Latin cross that stands on a plinth with three steps, which is set on a square concrete base. The entire structure is approximately 6 feet tall, including the base. The inscription is located on the east side, facing the road, and reads: "IN LOVING MEMORY/ OF/ 4 IRBY BOYS/ NAMES/ THE BROTHERS/ NAMES/ WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/ IN THE GREAT EUROPEAN WAR 1914-1919/ ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS OF IRBY."
