Description
6 Caistor Road is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century, with some later alterations, including a new roof. It is constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan with a central entrance hall and consists of two rooms. It is two storeys high with an attic and features three symmetrical bays. The angle pilaster strips and the central bay that projects forward add to its architectural interest. The entrance has a doorcase with a panelled surround, a cornice, and a hood, leading to a six-panelled door with a radial fanlight set in a round-arched panelled reveal. The windows on the ground floor are four-pane sashes within flush wood architraves, which have painted rubbed brick flat arches and stucco cills. The first floor windows are similar but lack the arches, and there is a narrower sash window above the entrance. The side bays feature a stepped and dentilled brick eaves cornice, and there are stacks at both ends of the building.
