Description
St Mary's Court is a vicarage, now used as offices, built in 1864 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. The building is constructed of red brick, featuring ashlar and blue and yellow brick dressings, with a slate roof and a coped brick side wall stack. It has a plinth and a first-floor sill band, standing three storeys high plus attics, and has a three-window range.
On the right side, there is a recessed bay with a canted stone five-light oriel window supported by scroll brackets. Above this, there are two pointed-arched recesses with segment-headed wooden cross casements, all of which have linked hoodmoulds. Further up, there are two gabled dormers with single-pane windows.
The main entrance features a pointed-arched doorway with a hoodmould, a panelled door, and an overlight, flanked on the left by a segment-headed cross casement. To the left, there is a projecting gabled bay with two pointed-arched recesses containing wooden cross casements, and above, two smaller recesses with similar cross casements. These windows also have linked hoodmoulds. Above this, there is a pointed-arched recess with a late 20th-century top-hung casement. Below, there are two segment-headed cross casements.
Scott also restored the adjacent Church of St Mary around 1861.
