Description
97 Spring Bank is a house, now used as offices, with attached railings. It was built around 1820 and has undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. The building is made of painted brick with ashlar dressings and features an artificial slate roof with side wall stacks. It has a ground-floor sill band, a rusticated basement, and moulded wood modillion eaves. The structure is two storeys high, plus a basement and attics, and has a single window range.
The front includes a three-storey segmental bow window with tripartite glazing bar sash windows on the upper floors and a similar plain sash window in the basement. Above this, there is a large late 20th-century gabled wooden dormer with a glazing bar window. To the left, there are stone steps with wrought-iron spearhead balustrades leading to a wooden portico supported by square Doric columns and an entablature. The entrance features a moulded and fielded three-panel door with an overlight. The area railings are made of wrought iron with spearhead designs.
