Description

Nos. 180-186 Coltman Street is a group of seven houses that were built around 1840 and are linked by former stables. They were restored and altered in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with stucco fronts and feature hipped slate roofs in the center, with gabled and hipped roofs at either end. There are six side wall stacks, a single ridge stack, and a single gable stack. The houses have rendered plinths and a moulded first-floor sill band, along with wooden modillion and dentillated eaves.

The structure is two storeys tall and has a total of 17 windows. Most of the windows are 12-pane sashes with moulded eared architraves on the ground floor. On the left side, there are two pairs of windows, each with a recessed center containing two windows, followed by single windows. Below this, there is a recessed doorway supported by three Doric columns in antis, topped by a cornice, with a single window on either side. The left pair includes an entry doorway with an eared architrave and a blank overlight to the right. Between the pairs, there is a parapeted former stable with a single window above and a pair of garage doors below.

In the center, there is a double fronted house with a recessed center and a single window, flanked by single windows. The recessed central porch features two Doric columns in antis, a panelled door, and an overlight. To the left, there is a 12-pane sash window, and to the right, a larger tripartite sash window. There is also a pair of plain sashes to the right. The recessed center has two windows, with single windows on either side. Below, there is another recessed doorway with three Doric columns in antis, featuring 20th-century half-glazed doors and overlights. To the left of this pair, there is a former stable with a 12-pane sash window above and two doors with louvred overlights below.
