Description

The Vicarage, now a house, dates from the early 18th century and is located approximately 40 metres north of the Church of St Andrew. It is constructed of red brick and coursed chalk rubble, topped with a pantiled roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with an extruded corner featuring a catslide roof. It stands two storeys tall with attics and has three windows on the main elevation.

The entrance features a two-panelled service door set in a wooden surround, complete with a rectangular fanlight on the far left. The windows are sliding sashes with glazing bars, all framed in wooden surrounds, and flat brick arches sit above each opening. A band runs at first floor level, and there is a stepped brick eaves cornice along with a raised gable that includes kneelers.

The end stack is T-shaped in plan and has a string course and stepped cornice. The extruded corner contains unequal sashes in wooden surrounds, while the main door consists of six raised and fielded panels beneath a rectangular fanlight with vertical glazing bars. The cross wing features a sliding sash with glazing bars on the first floor and a raised gable with kneelers.

Canted bays with ramped parapets are topped with stone coping and pyramid and ball finials on the gable of the cross wing and the garden front, which is otherwise symmetrical with three windows: giant sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor and standard sashes with glazing bars on the first floor.
