Description
Bank Side Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Westmorland slate roof, although the rear wing has 20th-century tiles. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with a wing of several constructions extending to the rear right. There is a brick plinth, and steps lead up to a central door set within a pedimented wooden doorcase. Flanking the door are 16-pane sash windows with stone sills and wedge lintels. On the first floor, there is a central sash window with glazing bars, and the outer windows are similar to those below. The roof is hipped, with end stacks that have ashlar bands and cap stones. On the right side, there is an old sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, a fire insurance plaque near the eaves, and the wing set back on the right has been altered and is partly of later construction. Inside, the entrance hall features contemporary doors with architraves and corner roundels, along with a contemporary wooden staircase.
