Description
Station House is a former station master's house and waiting room, now a dwelling, built in 1845 by G T Andrews for the York and North Midland Railway Company. The building is constructed of brown brick with ashlar and red brick dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, featuring a projecting single-storey, single-bay former waiting room at the front.
The house has a plinth and the entrance is located in the second bay, consisting of a 4-panel, part-glazed door set beneath a flat arch made of red brick. The entrance to the former waiting room has been blocked and features an ashlar surround with pilasters, a round arch, a keystone, a cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are 12-pane sashes throughout, also set under flat arches of red brick, with continuous ashlar sill bands. There are rear stacks and the roof has wide overhanging eaves, with a range to the rear under a pent roof.
