Description

Tress Cottage is an early 18th-century house situated on Bubwith’s Main Street. It is a three-cell lobby-entry house, originally consisting of two rooms deep. The building is built of whitewashed brick and has a pantile roof. It is a single-storey structure with an attic. A board door is located slightly to the right of the original opening, and there are four 16-pane sash windows: three to the right of the door and one to the left, all set beneath segmental arches. A dentilled eaves course runs around the building. The gables feature shaped kneelers and coping. Brick stacks are located at the right end and on the ridge. The interior includes substantial chamfered ceiling beams with triangular stops and a principal rafter roof secured with wooden pegs at the ridge, supported by two sets of purlins. The building exhibits group value.
